ESPN 30 for 30 Pony Excess
Did anyone see the 30 for 30 “Pony Excess” on ESPN this past weekend? It was about SMU and how their football program got the NCAA so called “Death Penalty”. The whole story reminds me of what is probably happening in college football today with the SEC. The SEC reminds of what the Southwest Conference used to be like, ultra competitive with schools in the same regions recruiting a lot of the same recruits. I like to think college football is fair, but in order to be successful in the SEC they have to be cheating. The whole thing with Cam Newton was just a flash of the past and looks like what happened with the SMU’s Eric Dickerson and David Stanley. Let’s face it Newton is not the only player that has been paid off and Reggie Bush is not the only player that has accepted things from agents. I hope the SEC schools are a little smarter than SMU. This 30 for 30 really touched me maybe because I am in college athletics and I always root for fair competition. I don’t want to see another school go down with repeated offenses and eventually getting the “Death Penalty”.
